2009, 2010 Success in Schools Series
Shows multi-colored unnamed countries, representing the capability of drilling in to country data.

For a variety of reasons, each year millions of children --in economically developed countries as well as in developing nations-- fall off the education track. The Success in Schools series is an advocacy strategy to highlight new ways education policymakers and planners might re-think critical roles, responsibilities, and approaches that will make a difference to these children, their families and their communities. Each book in the series looks at a critical stage in the child's school career from entry into first grade through graduation from secondary education and identifies Principles for Success that operate at each of these stages. These general Principles of Success are illustrated by photographs, anecdotes from the field, an graphs provided by the EPDC. Together these images bring the Principles of Success to life. The overall result of the project it to make EPDC data, graphs, and profiles more accessible and appealing to users. This project can be viewed in the Dynamic Maps page.

In 2009, EPDC collaborated with the Ministry of Education in Zambia and the Education Quality Improvement Program (EQUIP) to develop district-level education profiles that present EMIS data alongside data analysis by district policymakers. The profiles have been integrated into the administrative monitoring system for the country, and have been used by the districts as a tool to identify and communicate policy priorities, engage stakeholders, and request funds and support. EPDC also produced a visual manual on education indicators and contributed to a series of workshops designed to encourage evidence-based decision making at the district level.
