Horizontal Inequality in Education and Violent Conflict Literature Review

After offering a rationale for studying education inequalities and violent conflict, and introducing the concept of horizontal inequalities, we offer a brief overview of the approach and methodology for selecting the literature to be used in the review. This is followed by a review of literature on group identity and its measurement in conflict literature, with a particular focus on horizontal inequality. Finally, we discuss the literature on educational inequality, as well as the studies and evidence to date.

This is a mixed-methods case study into the relationship between investment in educational equity and peacebuilding in Uganda, carried out as part of UNICEF’s Peacebuilding and Education Advocacy (PBEA) program. National Learning Assessment Mapping Project

In this policy brief we map the landscape of national assessments and outline the ways in which the seven domains of the Learning Metrics Task Force (LMTF) are reflected in the current priorities of national education systems. Using publicly available data sources, NLAMP collected national assessment metadata from 125 countries from all six regions of the world, and created a database of over 300 assessments, categorizing their subject focus areas, which learning domains they fall in, and at which point in the schooling cycle they are administered.
