Description

This indicator family helps to better understand the characteristics of populations and anticipate – through projections and education forecasting – policy and planning needs. Population projections rely on demographic indicators, such as fertility and mortality rates. Consequently, the reliability of these indicators influences the reliability of projections. Using projections of student and teacher populations in its paper Global Education Trends: 1970-2025*, EPDC observed that Sub-Saharan Africa has the greatest need for additional teachers to meet growth in student enrollments.
